THE MACK FAMILY OPENS THE FIFTH COACH MACK'S CORNER
SPEEDWAY CHILDREN'S CHARITIES SUPPORTS A COACH MACK'S CORNER AT ETHEL TAYLOR ACADEMY
CINCINNATI (May 22, 2018) – Students at Ethel Taylor Academy started the school day with a high-five from Coach Chris Mack and his family. Coach Chris Mack and his familiy were welcomed with a by chants of "Mack" before the opening today. The Macks, along with Mark Simendinger of Speedway Children’s Charities Kentucky Chapter and Jeff Piecoro of Fox Sports Ohio held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on the new corner in the library of the elementary school. The entire Mack Family, Chris, his wife Christi and daughters Lainee and Hailey all participated in the morning launch. The new bookshelves were stocked with 600 age-appropriate books provided by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, and the foundation provided a Coach Mack themed space with comfortable, inviting setting to enjoy reading the books. Each student in the school also received a book to take home from the Foundation. This corner is the fifth Coach Mack's Corner opened by the Foundation.
“Education is the key to the future for these students.” Mack shared with students.
"The importance of practicing has been a constant in my life and is a part of what I want to share with students. We want to provide a space where students want to practice reading.”
This launch was made possible by the support of a grant from Speedway Children’s Charities Kentucky Chapter. Speedway Children’s Charities (SCC) is dedicated to helping children improve their quality of life, and through its various events and activities, the chapter strives to raise critical funds and provide grants to non-profit children’s organizations in Kentucky, Southwest Ohio and Southeast Indiana much like The Mack Family. This alignment in values resulted in the grant award that supported the launch of today’s corner.
This fifth corner in the Tri-State is all part of fulfilling The Mack Family Foundation’s promise to finish the work it started while Chris was the head coach of the Xavier Men’s Basketball Team. Cincinnati is home for Chris and his commitment to serving his hometown remains even in light of his move to Louisville, Kentucky.
Chris and Christi Mack and daughters Lainee and Hailey, Sponsors Speedway Children’s Charities Kentucky Chapter’s Mark Simendinger, Ethel Taylor Academy Principal Sherwin Ealy and students, as well as Chelsea Courtney of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt performed a ribbon-cutting ceremony, officially unveiling Coach Mack’s Corner at Ethel Taylor Academy.
